"My dad used to wake me up every morning saying "Today is a school day, a break all the rules day." My mom would tell me "You don't become famous for following the rules, have a famous day!" As a result, I live life to my own beat, along with friends and family who are crazy enough to keep up with me. These blog posts are the chronicles of my life to keep people up to date when they can't be with me for every step of the adventure!"

Collegio: Textbooks to techbooks

When Graphics and Imaging Technology professor Chris Huitt was in college, textbooks were printed, bound, shipped and republished every few years. Last week, his class of 24 used Apple’s iBooks 2 to create a 12-page instructive document complete with links to slideshows and charts. It took them an hour and a half.
“We downloaded it and put it on all the computers to see how easy it was to put in the copy and bring in the links,” Huitt said.

Chris Huitt, professor in graphics and imaging technologies, taught Layout and Design last semester a little bit differently than he has in the past. Academic Affairs recently launched an iPad Pilot Project and decided Huitt would be the perfect candidate to test it. Twenty-four students in Huitt’s class received a new iPad on the first day of class. Students were allowed to use them for other classes and even allowed to use them for non-school purposes.
